Mother’s Time Allocation, Child Care and Child Cognitive Development

چکیده

This paper analyzes the effects of maternal and nonparental time on a child’s cognitive development. Using data from Panel Study Income Dynamics, we estimate model that allows mother’s productivity to depend her education level distinguishes between formal informal care. The results show childcare high-educated mothers is more productive than low-educated simulation policies subsidizing mothers’ wages or regulating care market indicates children with benefit replacing time.
